Steve Shehan, essential composer and percussionist, member of the Hadouk Trio, signs here a new challenge: AWALIN, (my promise), an album born from his encounter with the Tuareg musician Nabil Othmani, son of late great poet of the desert, Baly Othmani.
"Awalin" symbolizes the evidence of a continuation, a relay, of the trust of a father reiterated by his son in respect and friendship.

Steve Shehan gave his word, his promise, during his last trip to Djanet as he did throughout his years of collaboration with Nabil’s father.
The commitment, the pleasure to continue innovating enable to convey Tuareg culture and oral collective memory, nowadays very compromised by the invasive presence of television.
It was a new challenge to highlight the "word", Tuareg poetry by incorporating Nabil Othmani’s and Steve Shehan’s creativity together with the taste and vitality of this new generation.

Banjo, pedal steel guitar, dobro, classical guitar, duduk, angklung, hang, dumdum, berimbau, strings, tar, saz, Kamantche, piano, mingle with the sound of the lute and folk guitar, and with a new more African flair that Nabil offers with his sweet and clear voice.

Steve Shehan expresses once again his love of Tuareg music by surrounding himself with modern, electronic, shamanic, Berber, Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Cuban, and especially African movements, bringing together Tuareg culture and the generous universality of music.
He is also surrounded by prestigious guests such as Vladiswar NadiShana, Ibrahim Maalouf, Didier Malherbe, Claude Samard, Norbert Krief, who, beyond their friendship, bring a unique and original flavor.

Steve Shehan compositeur et percussionniste incontournable, membre du Hadouk Trio, signe ici un nouveau défi : AWALIN, (ma parole), album né de la rencontre avec Nabil Othmani, musicien touareg, fils du grand poète du désert disparu, Baly Othmani.
AWALIN, (ma parole), symbolise l’évidence d’une continuation, le relais, la confiance d’un père réitérée par le fils, dans le respect et l’amitié.

La parole de Steve Shehan fut donnée, engagée, lors de son dernier voyage à Djanet comme elle le fut tout au long de ses années de collaboration avec le père de Nabil.
L’engagement, le plaisir de poursuivre et d’innover permettent là encore de véhiculer la culture touarègue et la mémoire collective orale aujourd’hui très fragilisée par la présence invasive de la télévision. Mettre en exergue la “parole”, la poésie touarègue en y incorporant la créativité de Nabil Othmani et celle de Steve Shehan avec le goût et le dynamisme de cette nouvelle génération est un nouveau pari.

Banjo, pedal steel guitar, dobro, guitare classique, duduk, angklungs, hang, dumdum, berimbau, cordes, tar, saz, kamantché, piano, se mêlent au son du luth, de la guitare folk et de ce nouveau flair avec plus d’africanité que nous offre Nabil avec sa voix suave et limpide.

Steve Shehan exprime une fois de plus son amour de la musique touarègue en s’entourant des mouvements modernes, électro, chamaniques, berbères, brésiliens, moyen-orientaux, cubains et surtout africains, rapprochant la culture touarègue à l’universalité généreuse de la musique.
Il s’entoure également d’invités prestigieux tels qu’Ibrahim Maalouf, Didier Malherbe, Vladiswar Nadishana, Claude Samard, Norbert Krief qui, au delà de leur amitié, amènent une saveur originale.
